WB Upper Primary TET (Teachers Eligibility Test) is conducted by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) for recruitment of teachers for classes 6 to 8 in upper primary schools across West Bengal. Eligibility Criteria

Age: Minimum 18 years (no upper age limit as per NCTE guidelines)
Educational Qualification: Graduation from a recognized university with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B)
Professional Qualification: B.Ed degree from an NCTE-recognized institution is mandatory. Candidates appearing in final year of B.Ed may also apply provisionally
Domicile: Bengali language proficiency is mandatory (Bengali as a subject at school level or equivalent); West Bengal domicile preferred
Subject Specialization: For teaching Mathematics & Science, candidate must have graduation in relevant subjects; for Social Studies, graduation in History/Geography/Polity related subjects

Exam Pattern

Paper II — Upper Primary TET

150 multiple-choice questions of 150 marks (1 mark each). 4 compulsory sections: Child Development & Pedagogy (30 Qs, 30 marks), Bengali (30 Qs, 30 marks), English (30 Qs, 30 marks), and Optional Subjects — either Mathematics & Science (60 Qs, 60 marks) or Social Studies (60 Qs, 60 marks). Duration: 150 minutes (2.5 hours). No negative marking.

Qualifying Criteria

General category candidates must score minimum 60% (90 marks out of 150). OBC/SC/ST candidates need minimum 50% (75 marks out of 150). The certificate is valid for 7 years from the date of result declaration.
